LIU's Library

The Libraries’ collections include more than one million items, with volumes of print material and thousands of items in extensive holdings of microforms, maps, images, musical scores, sound recordings, and videotapes.

Workshops on library resources or personal consultations on research projects can be arranged by the registrar.

International Students

There are 805 international students registered at LIU—285 undergraduates and 520 graduate students—for the current academic year.

The International Students Office provides services to meet the special needs of these students and support programs to help them fulfill their personal and academic goals.

Live Video Option & Lecture Format

LIU’s online lectures use streaming video technology, along with standard Internet browser software. Streaming video refers to video that is sent to the user as it is viewed. As with TV or radio, you receive the images and audio just before you see and hear them. This is quicker than waiting for the entire video to download before viewing it. To ensure the steady stream of data, however, the video must be compressed, so the image is not full size.

Some of the courses that are offered online and on campus are broadcasted live as the class is being conducted.

Although courses take place online, students are expected to adhere to all academic policies and attend on-campus exams when necessary and feasible.
